Q:
I recently met with a seller I found through your AgentEvaluator programwho told me they received 12 proposals from agents in my area but decided to go with mine. I’ve just listed their home, but am a bit concerned about my effectiveness going forward. Should I be worried?
- George G., Atlanta, GA
A: Competition can be worrisome for anyone, but please remember that competition is one of the basics that AgentEvaluator works on. Agents like you are competing for a consumer’s business! In regards to the number of proposals the consumer received, 12 is above average when we look at it from a national level. For 2007-2008, the average consumer received under 7 proposals. Some received more while others less, but it’s important to not let the actual number discourage you!
Consumers are looking for proposals that are personalized to their needs, and it’s a safe bet that not all of your competitors are going to take the time to do this. We’ve seen consumers pick the 15th proposal they’ve received because it was the one that directly talked to them. The number of proposals does matter, but most consumers are concerned more about the quality of the proposal. Focus on that, and your chances to succeed on the program grow exponentially.
