Seven years after sending a potential Annapolis, MD client a proposal to help him sell his home, Mona LaCovey recently received a call to get started with the transaction! Here’s how the story goes:


In 2000 Mr. Chatterton started his search for a real estate agent online, opting to use HomeGain’s Find a Realtor® service. Mona LaCovey responded to Mr. Chatterton with a personalized proposal outlining her services and addressing his needs and questions. Although Mr. Chatterton decided to not sell his home then, with his retirement in 2007, he went back to the proposal that Mona sent him and called her up to inquire about her services once again. They closed on the house September 28, 2007.


“I can’t say I even remember sending the proposal to Mr. Chatterton that long ago,” chuckled Mona. “It speaks to the personalization that I put into my proposals. I must have made a good impression on him!”


With 20 years experience in real estate, Mona sees a good percentage of her business come from personal referrals alone. “I’m committed to servicing people, and to helping people achieve their dreams and goals,” stated Mona. “My clients know that I care, and they are more than happy to tell their friends, neighbors and family members about me.”


Her business cannot thrive on referrals alone, so she turns to her marketing strategies, which includes a mix of online and offline techniques. “In my area, I do well with mailing out flyers and other offline marketing. I also depend on the HomeGain leads I get with AgentEvaluator.”


An AgentEvaluator member for over seven years, Mona has built a system of reaching potential new clients online by immediately contacting them in person either via phone or in person. “Online lead generation is an effective marketing tool, and I’m obviously able to make a lasting impression, as with the Mr. Chatterton instance, but in order to close deals, you need personal interaction.”

Dear HomeGain,


I just signed up for AgentEvaluator™ and am trying to create a few templates. Every time I select “save templates”, nothing seems to happen. How can I save them?

Dear Peggy,


This is a very common, and easy to fix problem. When clicking the “save template button”, another box appears asking you for a name to save your template under. Your box is not appearing since you most likely have the pop-up blocker turned on within your Internet Browser or security tool. When using the HomeGain site, we encourage you to turn your pop-up blocker off so that you have a smoother consumer experience.

HomeGain Announces Reduced Referral Fee for AgentEvaluator™

In response to the market, HomeGain has decided to reduce the referral fee for its AgentEvaluator program to 27% for all regular members and to 22% for Platinum and Gold Club members, equating to a 10 to 12% savings respectively. This new pricing will be effective on proposals dated November 1, 2007 and later, and is not applicable to the current reduction on homes $125,000 or less.
