Charlottesville real estate information:

Charlottesville, founded in 1762, is the county seat of Albemarle County. It is the main city of the Charlottesville metropolitan area, which includes Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene and Nelson counties. C-Ville is located in northern Virginia, at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and 115 miles from Washington D.C.

Nearby Shenandoah National Park has gorgeous scenery, with rolling hills, thick forests, hiking trails and stunning overlooks. Skyline Drive is a famous scenic drive winding through the park. In 2004, Charlottesville was ranked the best place to live in the United States in the book Cities Ranked and Rated by Bert Sperling and Peter Sander. The book rated over 400 cities in the U.S. and Canada based on economy & jobs, cost of living, climate, education, health & healthcare, crime, transportation, leisure, arts & culture and overall quality of Life. The National Trust for Historic Preservation added Charlottesville to its 2007 list of America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations which is an annual list of unique communities in the country.

Did You Know? Charlottesville was the home to three U.S. Presidents (Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe and James Madison). Since Thomas Jefferson is known as the father of American wine, it's no surprise the area around Charlottesville is home to many nationally known wineries.
