Houston is the largest city in Texas and is located in Harris County, with portions of the city expanding into Fort Bend County and Montgomery County. Houston is also home of the Texas Medical Center, which is the world's largest concentration of research and healthcare organizations. Houston offers a wide range of cultural, entertainment, and business amenities. It is one of only five cities in the county with visual and performing arts available year-round. For example, Houston offers the Houston Grand Opera, the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Ballet, and the Alley Theatre. The city experiences humid subtropical climate with humid summers and cool and temperate winters. The city is in close proximity to many beaches and sometimes experiences coastal breezes. Due to the city's geographical size and population, Houston has a variety of residential and commercial neighborhoods each with a diverse population of many ethnicities and cultures. Housing is extremely inexpensive compared to many other large metropolitan areas. Prices average around $250,000. Houston also has many cultural amenities such as performing arts centers, downtown districts with restaurants and shops, many shopping centers, and an abundance of residential communities.
