Sacramento, the state capital of California, is located in northern California in Sacramento County. The city is located about 85 miles northeast of San Francisco off interstate 5. A commuter rail service, Amtrak's Capital Corridor links Sacramento to the San Francisco Bay Area. Sacramento is home to the Sacramento International Airport. The city is known for its Mediterranean weather that is characterized by mild winters and hot dry summers. Sacramento is home to many popular events and sports teams such as the California State Fair and the NBA's Sacramento Kings. California State University Sacramento as well as four city colleges are located within the city limits. The city is proud of its' historical roots and landmarks such as the Old Sacramento State Historic Park. The city has a gorgeous downtown with tree-lined roads and streets and the breathtaking state capital building, located at Capitol Mall. The downtown Plaza Mall is a popular shopping center providing residents and visitors with major department stores and trendy restaurants. Because of Sacramento's geographical size and large population, the city is divided into four neighborhoods each with about fifteen to thirty mini-neighborhoods.
