Orange is a city incorporated in 1888, located in central Orange County, about three miles from Santa Ana, the county seat, and 32 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The 2008 estimated population is 140,000.

Orange is unique since most of the homes in its Old Towne District (Orange Historic District) were built prior to 1920. The Old Towne District is the largest National Register District in California, including many architectural styles, such as bungalow, Arts and Crafts, Hip roof cottage, Mediterranean Revival Style, Prairie Style, Spanish Colonial Revival Style, and Victorian. The center of downtown is known as the Plaza. Residents and visitors have repeatedly voted Old Towne as Orange County's most loved downtown.

Orange has many well preserved 1950's neighborhoods. Also, the gated communities of Rock Creek Ranch spotlight town homes, condominiums and single family homes. Orange Park Acres and Rocking Horse Ridge have pretty horse properties with bridal trails around the area. The El Modena and Macpherson neighborhoods reflect the 1960's.

Did You Know? Orange was the only city in Orange County to be designed and built around a Plaza, which gave it the nickname Plaza City. Dairy Treat, known as Orange's oldest hamburger stand, opened in 1949. There is no charge for parking in Old Towne.
