The city is located in Los Angeles County in Southern California, sprawling over 465 square miles, making it larger than New York City and Chicago. There are many freeways and public transportation options throughout the city. Los Angeles also has its own international airport. It is one of the most popular destinations for immigrants and the diverse cultures can be seen throughout the city. Los Angeles is widely known for its sunshine and warm weather, thriving economy, and best known as the entertainment capital of the world. Due to the abundance of entertainment stars working and living in the Los Angeles area, many people have an excellent chance of running into a media star. For those who enjoy sports, Los Angeles is home to many athletic teams such as the National Basketball teams the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers, the National Baseball League's Los Angeles Dodgers, and the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings. The city has an excellent public library system and many colleges and universities such as the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and University of Southern California (USC).
