Laguna Beach real estate information:
Laguna Beach is a beautiful beach resort and artistic community in southern Orange County, about 24 miles southeast of Santa Ana, the county seat, and midway between Los Angeles and San Diego. It is nine square miles in size with a 2009 estimated population of 24,000. The city, incorporated in 1927, is famous for its hotels, unique boutiques, fine and chic restaurants, world famous art galleries and festivals, as well as its wilderness parks, canyons, hills, pristine beaches and coves.
Besides seven miles of the Pacific Ocean shoreline providing magical coves and sandy beaches, Laguna Beach is bordered by Crystal Cove State Park, Laguna Woods, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel, and Dana Point.
The land around Laguna Beach rises quickly from the shoreline into the San Joaquin Hills, giving homeowners fantastic dramatic views of the ocean and the San Joaquin canyon. The highest point, at an elevation of about 1,000 feet, is Temple Hill in the Top of the World neighborhood. Parts of Laguna Beach also border the 80 acre Aliso/Wood Canyons Regional Park and Wilderness Park. With a greenbelt covering three sides of the town and the Pacific Ocean on the fourth, Laguna Beach residents enjoy over 20,000 acres of wilderness, including Laguna Coast Wilderness Park. There are 74 parks available to residents. Because of the hilly topography, the main road is the Coast Highway, connecting Laguna Beach to Newport Beach to the northwest and Dana Point to the south.
Did You Know? Laguna Beach is the second oldest city in southern Orange County, after San Juan Capistrano. The famous Greeter Statue in Laguna Beach commemorates the city's historic greeter, Eiler Larsen, a long haired, bearded man who used to waive to each person traveling through Laguna Beach.
