Vancouver, in Clark County, Washington, is the 4th largest city in the state. It is part of the greater Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area, the 23rd largest metro area in the country, with over 2 million residents. Vancouver was founded in 1825 and became a city in 1857.

Vancouver has two school districts, the Vancouver Public Schools has 6 high schools: Hudson's Bay High School, Columbia River, Fort Vancouver, Lewis and Clark, Skyview High School, and the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics; plus 6 middle schools: Alki Middle School, Discovery, Gaiser, Jason Lee, Thomas Jefferson, and McLoughlin Middle School. The Evergreen School District has 6 high schools: Evergreen High School, Mountain View, Heritage High School, Union, Legacy High School, and the Vo-tech Skills Center. Vancouver is also home to the Washington School for the Deaf and Washington State School for the Blind. Colleges include Washington State University and two year Clark College.
