Founded in 1869, Santa Ana is the county seat and largest city in Orange County, California, with a 2009 population of almost 355,000. It is part of the greater Los Angeles–Long Beach–Santa Ana metropolitan area, the second largest metropolitan area in the country, with an estimated 13 million residents. Santa Ana is located on the Santa Ana River, just 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Santa Ana is the financial and government center of Orange County.
