Founded in 1682, Norfolk is Virginia's 2nd largest city with 238,832 residents. It has 7 miles of Chesapeake Bay beachfront and a total of 144 miles of shoreline along its lakes, rivers and the Bay.

Norfolk has one of the busiest international ports on the East Coast of the United States. It is also a popular cruise port. Cruise ships, with up to 3,000 passengers, regularly stop at the pier downtown. Because of its importance to the US Navy and as cargo port, much of the economy is tied to defense contracting and the shipping industry.

Norfolk has more than 120 neighborhoods, many historic, each with distinct architectural styles. Homes range from charming starter homes and bungalows to lavish residences and home estates, from downtown lofts, waterfront condos, and town homes to brand new developments along the Chesapeake Bay. Some communities to own a home include Berkley, Willoughby Spit, Ocean View, Downtown, Ghent, Freemason, Lakewood, Larchmont, Glen Haven, Talbot Port, Euwanee Park, Kenilworth, Alden Heights, Larrymore Lawns, Sussex, and West Norfolk.
