Laredo real estate facts:
Founded in 1755, Laredo is the county seat of Webb County, Texas. It is located on the Rio Grande in South Texas, on the border with Mexico. The 2007 city population was estimated at 233,000. Laredo is part of the greater Laredo-Nuevo Laredo metropolitan area, with an estimated population over 700,000.
Laredo is known for its annual festivals. The Washington's Birthday Celebration, founded in 1989, is a month long celebration which attracts 400,000 annual visitors. The festival features parades, a Mardi Gra-like Jamboozie carnival, an exciting air show, fireworks displays, live concerts, and a formal dress prom. The related JalapeƱo Festival is one of the top 10 eating festivals in the country.
Laredo attractions include Heritage Trolley Tour of Historic Laredo, Lamar Bruni Vergara Science Center, Laredo Center for the Arts, Laredo Children's Museum, Lake Casa Blanca International Skate Park, and Laredo Riding Stables.
